In today’s world we see all types of scams and hoaxes on our phones and on tv’s. I have received several texts throughout the years asking for my banking information. However, they don’t look like scams. The texts usual have my banks name and logo along with my name following with something that says “locked due to suspicious activity” or “click link to verify ownership of account.” The purpose of these texts was to try to steal my login credentials and take the money from my bank account. Scams like this work by having the correct branding and using the fear of you losing your money. When getting this messages we must always ensure that we check the senders number, check the URL, contact the bank to make sure it they are on the same page or look for weird language that wouldn’t be used by your bank. Scammers have been getting people all over the world of every age, so make sure you never give up sensitive information unless you know exactly who it’s going to.
